German Brand Award 2021 for MAHLE

Sometimes things take time. And this case is one of them. And this is not a bad thing but a rather good one. End of 2016 I wrote the social strategy for MAHLE.

In 2016, MAHLE’s dual business strategy to further optimize internal combustion engines and, at the same time, push ahead of the development of electromobility, was already being implemented.

Meanwhile, communications still had to be updated to feed and support this transition.

Known as a classical German car part producer primarily for pistons, we had to move a long way towards e-mobility and becoming a tech company.

And even though MAHLE still grew faster than the market we knew at one moment the transition would come swiftly like a tsunami.

So the way to move forward for me was:

Keep MAHLE relevant by unleashing the transformative potential of social media.

With this in mind, I developed a social strategy that would transform the experience consumers have with the brand and therefore the brand image.

In 2021 it was time to show this transition worked – and we did. Together with the agency agorate who is handling social media content creation, posting, media and also providing the technical inclusion of web, social, and other digital channels we showcased the transition and incredible KPIs prooving the success. This lead to winning the German Brand Award 2021:

„The MAHLE Group Instagram channel @mahlegroup is therefore emblematic of the transformation of the German automotive industry – from the local Swabian supplier to a global, innovative tech- group for mobility. This transformation is particularly evident in the thematic landscape, consisting of alternative drives, e-bikes, startups, and Sim-Racing. We still love mobility, and we are moving forward. It’s not just the CEO who’s talking, it’s employees successes and pride we show. #visionofmobility“

MAHLE also had a press release regarding this (repost):

Thanks for this great teamwork @Mahle for the trust and @agorate for the execution of the strategy.
